“We’ll be sending you an SSDS.”
“A what?”
“An SSDS will be sent to you once your building is ordered.”
SSDS is an acronym commonly heard when ordering a Romtec building, it stands for Scope of Supply and Design Submittal. The term doesn’t mean anything to most people although it’s a very important part of ordering. SSDS is a document that Romtec provides to make sure that you, our customer, gets exactly what you think you are wanting.
Romtec will provide a set of preliminary plans for all of our buildings with the exception of the SST Original and Traditional Restrooms, these come with installation manuals. In addition to the preliminary plans we provide the specifications describing what Romtec, the manufacturer, is providing in our building package and what the contractor provides. You will also receive a full set of submittals for all the building components. In addition you will receive the color charts for items such as roofing, powder coating color upgrade etc., as they apply to your building order.
Romtec will send the Preliminary SSDS to our customer to submit to the Permit Issuing Authority for a “courtesy” review and redlines. Now most customers will try to pull the permits, if applicable, at this point, however we are only looking for comments and mark-ups at this time. The customer will send back to Romtec the redlined sections and comments of the SSDS that need to be revised. At that time the customer has a few options:
• Romtec can revise and provide a Revised Preliminary SSDS for a 2nd review.
• Sign the Submittal Approval and Notice to Proceed with the noted redlines and we will revise and then Launch your building order. With this option we will launch the building order once the revisions are completed and in approximately 6 weeks your building package will be ready to ship.
If during this process the customer has made any changes to materials we will gladly provide a change order and once this is signed we will proceed with the requested change. We want you and your client to have the opportunity to change things up so the building is exactly how you need it.
Now you know what an SSDS is and what it accomplishes, this is a great tool so that you and your client know what Romtec is providing. The end result will be a great looking structure.
