Nashville District Updates Lake Front Facilities

The Nashville District USACE began it’s service in 1888. The Nashville District Engineer’s task was to oversee the construction of a series of locks and dams on the Cumberland River.

Over the next 40 years, 15 locks and dams were built on the river. They were kept in service until the modern, multi purpose dams that are now in operation were constructed.

The Corps has developed this property into public use areas including campground restrooms, and shower houses.   Through time, these facilities have fallen into disrepair and were in desperate need of replacement.  With the Operation Managers referral, the Corps contacted Romtec to supply these structures turnkey through the GSA contract.  The Lake Managers insisted that their structures match the surrounding environment and aesthetics that represent the campgrounds.

The Contracting Officers working with the Lake Managers ensured proper procedures were followed, and that the Corps received exactly what was needed during every turn.

Each site required different options based on usage, details are listed below:

Cadiz & Kuttawa:
Cedar lap siding and stone Veneer to match existing structures, hartford green metal roof, tile floors, phenolic partitions, and photo cell operated light fixtures.

Ragland Bottom:
Non slip tile floors in the shower house, mechanical exhaust system, phenolic partitions, covered laundry room, powder coated steel components, split face block, and FRP interior.
Sierra IV Restroom Facility
Cordell Hull:
Right bank, tail water, and defeated creek, split face block, standing seam metal roofing, vaulted ceilings, stainless steel fixtures with concealed flushometers, on demand water heaters, LED light fixtures.

Lake Patrons have complimented the Army Corps on the keen design and are greatly appreciative for the new public facilities.  Romtec is proud to be a part of such a well planned, and well executed project.  Congratulations to all involved.
