Got Dry Block?

What is dry-stack block and why would I want this on my building project?  These are two great questions we answer here at Romtec.   The dry-stack blocks are special concrete masonry units that are stacked together without a mortar joint.  The masonry blocks are keyed to ensure that the wall aligns properly.  The inner cell of the dry-stack block is then fully grouted to increase the structural integrity of the wall.  In fact dry-stack masonry block compressive strength is the same as conventional masonry units.  When you buy a Romtec building you get an 8 inch thick wall, compared to pre-fabricated or pre-cast walls which are typically 4 or 6 inches wide.

Romtec’s dry-stacked masonry walls typically receive a cement based waterproofing finish on the interior face of the block wall, providing water tight construction.  The waterproofing coating also provides the customer with a nicely finishing building interior, similar to textured sheetrock walls. The dry-stack block construction gives you a high quality permanent structure, while keeping construction costs down.  Since the blocks do not require any mortar joints the wall can be constructed in a shorter period of time, which means you get your building faster!  The simplified construction of the dry-stack masonry wall reduces labor costs and saves you money!

The dry-stack block has a big advantage to owners who are bidding the installation to a contractor.  Since the blocks do not have any mortared joints, the need for skilled labor is practically eliminated.  This allows Romtec’s buildings to be constructed consistently and with a high level of quality anywhere in the country.
Dry-stack masonry makes sense for your project because we want you to save money, get your building in service faster and have a high quality facility.
