Custom Heavy Duty Utility Building
No. 13568 | Portland, Oregon
The Project
The Port of Portland, Oregon required a good-sized utility building to house substantial water pumping equipment. They required a heavy-duty structure with a substantial slab for heavy equipment and walls that provide noise reduction. Double doors were required for moving in and out special equipment and employee or maintenance access.
The Solution
Romtec designed a 24’ x 14’ building that could accommodate all the heavy-duty pumping equipment as well as control panels and sensors. Using their dry-stack, split-face block, filled with concrete, gave the city 8” solid walls, cutting down on the passage of sound to the outside.
Romtec provided steel doors and frames, as well as commercial shatterproof lighting. A custom ventilation system with thermostat provides adequate airflow and moisture control to ensure that air is circulated and replaced six times every hour. The heavy-duty steel ridge beam was engineered to also accommodate a hoist for lifting heavy equipment or pumps from the well.
Romtec provided the port with an attractive split-face block building that meets all the needs of the water pumping equipment. It is super secure both inside and out with heavy-duty fixtures, and materials to stand up to high commercial demands.
