ADA DEFINITIONS

  • Where it concerns Romtec and our customers, the ADA specifies that no individual may be discriminated against on the basis of disability for full and equal enjoyment in any place of public accommodation. This can include hotels, recreation sites, educational facilities, restaurants, stores, transportation, and, yes, restroom buildings. Any person who owns, leases, or operates a place of public accommodation needs to provide facilities designed within the requirements of all state and federal ADA guidelines.
  • ADA and state regulations specify exact dimensions, orientations, sizes, and operation methods for almost every type of hardware or fixture, for example… Doors Light Switches Drinking Fountains Toilets Urinals
  • ADA design regulations specify accessibility, egress, common use, and signage for building aspects such as… Ramps Toilet Stalls Shower Compartments Wheelchair Spaces Locker Rooms Concession Kitchens Storage Rooms
  • A toilet with the specific dimensions, equipment and design features required by the ADA Accessibility Guidelines and related national and state building codes. Also the design features of a toilet compartment or room, including: dimensions of the compartment or room, area free of obstructions (60” circle), locations of dispensers and grab bars, design of doors and door handles, lighting, etc. A shower and/or shower compartment or room with the specific dimensions, equipment and design features required by the ADA Accessibility Guidelines and related national and state building codes.
